I love this photo. Where was it taken? I love how your wife could just hold up a camera and point on shoot on your solar scope...

I had to move the scope for this shot as the sun was in the west, below the roof line. If it's not a tree, it's the roof, lol.

Guess I should have mentioned that in the first reply. I'm actually closer to Vaughn or Key Center than I an Gig Harbor..

I'm in Port Orchard, but I'm sure you already figured that out. My daughters lives on the Key Peninsula. I haven't done much work on this site in a while, been focusing more on my Friends with Gardens site but I'll be switching back to this site in a while. My main goal is too keep it from becoming more about ads and tracking users than useful astronomy. That's why I don't even allow Facebook or Google logins. I may open it up to that later but for now, I don't want to have to deal with ads and clutter. :)

Yeah I knew you were somewhat close. It seems we don't have many astronomy friends around here, I ask on different sites if anybody lives around here and never get reply's. As for Google or Facebook, I'm one of the 17 people that don't use them, lol. Nobody likes adds! I went to my video on U tube and saw your transit on the same page, what are the chances..?? Pretty cool. Are you the one with the Hotch Collimator? You may want to charge a small fee to collimate other peoples scopes, I'm first in line :) I see those things aren't cheap, WOW! On star tests my scope looks pretty good out of the box still. I have Bob's knobs but haven't wanted to mess things up yet so there not installed. Also are you the one that has, or still uses a DSLR? I'm trying to get info on focusing a DSLR, don't know if I should be going forward or backwards? Do you have any experience with flip mirrors? Unsure if it would help me or not, don't want to waste $100 if it doesn't. I'll be hanging around so when you get a chance maybe you could offer some tips. Thanks Don..

Hotech Collimator

I don't have the Hotech anymore as I got good enough at collimation on the fly to not need it, so I sold it to someone who could get some good use out of it. I use DSLR and CCD both. I'll try to post some helpful stuff in the coming days. :)
