Today's sunspots - September 3, 2017

Submitted by jimwcoleman

I really need to get me a good solar scope - with this fascination I've always had with the sun. One of these days...

Meanwhile,  back on planet Earth, this is how the sun looks today, at 11:30 a.m., from Port Orchard, Washington. Lot's more sunspot activity than I expected.

And it's sunny here near Seattle, too. Get out and enjoy it!

A new sunspot grew yesterday and it got huge! Matter of fact it shot off a CME yesterday. The thing was very active as I watched through the scope. Didn't bother with the camera, wish I did now, because of thin clouds and smoke. Keep an eye out tomorrow night for possible aurora's.. Nothing but ashes falling from the sky today.
