Pier plate with Milburn wedge

Submitted by jimwcoleman

To date, the observatory has only housed Meade Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes, ranging in aperture from eight to twelve inches. Because precise polar alignment is so critical, I spent considerable time evaluating wedges. When finally settling on a Milburn wedge, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the wedges were manufactured within sixty miles of where I lived! I was able to pick up the wedge in person, then bring it home and mate it to the custom pier plate.
